Get Involved with SDCUE Using Google Groups

Hi Everyone,

Hope your summer is going well.

I recently had a the opportunity to attend a Google Teacher Academy in Mountain View. I had a great time, touched bases with some people I hadn’t seen in a while, and learned a ton of things about some of the tools that are available for educators to use for free. Definitely the closest thing to summer camp I’ve been to in a while.

One thing that immediately struck me as useful for our purposes was the groups tool. As you may (or may not) remember, one of my goals as overlord dictator president is to increase participation in our group from members we don’t hear from enough. A few SDCUE members have mentioned that they might be able to play greater roles if we could facilitate online participation (myself included).

So here we go. Online participation, take 1:

Because I do want to keep things pretty local, admittance in to the group requires approval, so there will be a short delay between going to the site and being admitted. Approval is only required the first time, after that you’ll be free to read/post ad-nauseum.

First order of online business:

Prepping for our tech fair at El Cajon Valley High (Grossmont District) on November 8, 2008.

See you online,

BJ
SDCUE President
